Job Description

We are seeking a Gluten Lab Contractor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in food testing, wet chemistry, instrument operation, and ISO 17025 practices and a proven ability to deliver accurate, timely analytical results that support claims and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Organize workload and prioritize samples to maximize output and meet deadlines.
• Execute all laboratory methods as written and maintain adherence to protocols.
• Deliver results by due date, including data interpretation, manual calculations or peer review, and final report writing as needed.
• Meet department quality expectations by complying with Medallion and ISO 17025 requirements, identifying and addressing quality control issues, and completing quality investigations in a thorough and timely manner.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintenance per the Reliability Program.
• Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with GMI and Medallion safety rules.
• Provide cross-functional support across Medallion based on business needs.
• Handle multiple tasks, projects, and priorities with minimal guidance.
• Assist in projects and studies to support General Mills business units.
• Support evaluation and implementation of new test methods.
• Develop and maintain laboratory procedures and documentation.
• Actively participate in customer and accreditation audits.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of lab and team operations.
• Implement and support training of lab personnel through cross-training plans.
• Perform other responsibilities as required by the business.

Schedule:

Sunday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree preferred in microbiology, food science, biology, chemistry, or related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in food testing within a commercial or regulated laboratory.
• Proficiency in basic laboratory skills, including accurate weighing, pipetting, quantitative transfers, solution preparation, calculations, and evaluation of result quality.
• Experience operating common laboratory equipment, with strong troubleshooting and maintenance ability.
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements and quality systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, or the ability to learn quickly.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a service mindset with independent decision-making capability.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and a record of teamwork.
• Ability to flex schedule to accommodate longer shifts or weekend work as business needs require.
• Demonstrated agility in learning new applications and methods.
• Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with LabWare LIMS.
