Job Title: Research Engineer, Offshore & Marine Engineering, TCOMS

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research activities under the Maritime Systems Division, including data-driven modelling of vessel motion prediction, structural health monitoring, etc .
  • Support model-scale experimental campaigns in the TCOMS ocean basin, including test execution, data processing, and control system refinement.
  • Develop and maintain LabVIEW applications for data acquisition (DAQ), real-time monitoring, sensor signal visualization, automated testing workflows, data logging and reporting. Design, install, and configure sensor instrumentation systems for data measurement and monitoring.
  • Contribute to executing tasks and meeting deliverables under research grants and industry projects.
  • Collaborate with industry partners, affiliated research institutes and other relevant stakeholders to contribute to grant proposals for research funding consistent with the strategic goals of TCOMS.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualification & Field of Study:

  • Bachelor or Master in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field

Work Experience:

  • Experience in vessel dynamics, hydrodynamic modelling, or autonomous control systems
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or C++ for modelling and simulation.
  • Fundamental understanding of machine learning concepts and applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary research and development environment.

  • Ability to adapt and work effectively as members of a team.
  • Good communications skills in both written and spoken to handle diverse stakeholders.
  • Resourceful and self-driven with a high degree of professional integrity.
