Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Research Engineer to support process development, experimentation, and scale-up activities across snack food platforms. This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, supporting commercialization efforts, and driving technical problem-solving in a dynamic R&D and production environment.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to execute trials, analyze data, and translate learnings into actionable recommendations for process optimization and new product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Support development, optimization, and validation of processing methods across multiple snack platforms (e.g., popcorn, extruded snacks, baked products, fried snacks)
  • Execute experimental plans, collect process data, and analyze results to drive technical insights
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing equipment during trials
  • Assist with scale-up and commercialization activities, including defining operating parameters and identifying risks
  • Participate in pilot and plant trials, documenting observations, data, and follow-up actions
  • Apply structured problem-solving to issues such as moisture control, texture variability, oil performance, seasoning application, and process consistency
  • Develop technical documentation, including reports, SOPs, and process guidelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, engineering, operations, quality, and suppliers
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to process efficiency, quality, and productivity
  • Provide hands-on support during manufacturing trials and equipment setups

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 0 2 years of relevant experience (internships, co-ops, or lab/manufacturing experience acceptable)
  • Basic knowledge of food processing, manufacturing, or engineering principles
  • Experience or familiarity with laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing environments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and summarize technical data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work in hands-on environments involving equipment, heat, and industrial operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food processing, snacks, or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with DOE (Design of Experiments) or statistical analysis
  • Exposure to pilot plant or factory trial execution
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of processing methods such as extrusion, frying, baking, or thermal systems
