Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for supporting a scientific team conducting translational research in hematology, blood disorders and stem cell biology. The person would be responsible for conducting bioinformatics analyses, developing and implementing bioinformatic analyses programs, analyzing data and presenting the findings to the laboratory.

 

  • Conduct and design independent research under the direction of lab Principle Investigator (PI).
  • Develop bioinformatics analyses programs
  • Conduct various bioinformatics analyses including bulk RNA-seq analysis, single cell RNA-seq analysis and ATAC-seq analysis
  • Summarize experimental data timely and assist in drafting figures, results, and methods for publication under the direction of the PI.
  • Lead junior research assistants/technicians/students.
  • Acquiring a thorough understanding of the present scientific literature relating to the research in the laboratory.
  • Presenting research findings to other members of the laboratory as well as to the research community at the New York Blood Center.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements on organizational processes and practices.
  • Participates in professional development by attending conferences and seminars and is an active participant in national and international organizations.
  • Any related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education:

A doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field is required.

 

Experience:

Must have more than four years hands-on experience with bioinformatics analyses.

 

Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $87,824.00p/yr. to $92,960.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.

 

Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greater Tri-State office locations.
