    Mission Statement

    The Life Sciences Institute explores biological processes, structures, and functions at the finest scale to create impact on a global scale.

    Job Summary

    Please Note: This position is a two (2) year term-limited position.

    The Schneekloth laboratory at the Life Sciences Institute is looking for a research technician to join our research team. The primary research focus of the Schneekloth laboratory is the discovery and development of small molecules that modulate protein function and cellular pathways relevant to human disease. Research activities integrate medicinal chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and chemical biology approaches to identify, characterize, and optimize novel therapeutic agents. The laboratory also employs biophysical and biochemical methods to investigate molecular interactions and mechanisms of action. You will report directly to Dr. Schneekloth and will work full-time onsite.

    Responsibilities*

    Experimental tasks include:

    • Design, synthesize, purify, and characterize small molecules using modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques;

    • Perform compound purification and characterization using HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, and related analytical methods;

    • Develop and execute biochemical and biophysical assays to evaluate compound activity and target engagement;

    • Perform biophysical binding studies, including Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), to characterize molecular interactions; and

    • Analyze and interpret experimental data to support medicinal chemistry and drug discovery efforts.

    Non-experimental tasks include:

    • Purchase and maintain an up-to-date inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment;

    • Maintain laboratory instrumentation and organization of research spaces;

    • Assist with preparation of technical reports, presentations, manuscripts, and grant-related materials;

    • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, experimental records, and data reports;

    • Work with the Principal Investigator to ensure laboratory expenditures are charged to the appropriate funding source;

    • Enforce safe laboratory practices and maintain compliance with institutional safety requirements; and

    • Represent the Schneekloth Laboratory at Life Sciences Institute meetings and communicate relevant information to laboratory personnel.

    Required Qualifications*

    • Bachelor's degree in Medicinal Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline;

    • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory research experience in an academic, government, or industrial research setting;
