Description

The Research Program Director is responsible for administrative, operational and business oversight of research projects within a department or division. Collaborates with and oversees Principal Investigators (P.I.), Community Partners, and Community Scientists in review of grants, ensuring research is responsive to community-identified needs, preparing and negotiating clinical trials care delivery, patient eligibility, project oversight, budgets, staffing and related human resources activity. Ensures research findings and outcomes are meaningfully disseminated to community partners and underserved populations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with members of the health care team, community partners, and other academic groups, in program development, consultation, and the planning and delivery of optimal unit operations. Ensures community feedback and input are integrated into research planning and implementation
  • Establishes goals and objectives for all ongoing research projects, consistent with Mount Sinai Health System policies as well as Federal, State and local regulations. Evaluates research projects through a health equity and community health disparities lens.
  • Responsible for driving the preparation of grants and IRB paperwork, financial activity and contracts.
  • Facilitates timely and responsive communication and proactive responsible decision making.
  • May arrange for the availability of human and material resources to facilitate positive outcomes for ongoing research projects.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of ongoing quality improvement activities as per policies and protocols.
  • May participate in the identification and response to potential and actual risk management issues.
  • Responsible for human resources, including recruitment, hiring, evaluating, retention, discipline and termination. Directs the Community Scientist Training and Mentorship Program, including recruitment, training, compensation, and career development of Community Scientists.
  • Develops and maintains systems which support efficient and effective functioning of designated clinical areas.
  • Develops and implements plain-language dissemination of research findings to community partners and stakeholders. Ensures research outcomes are shared in accessible formats and community partners receive results in meaningful timeframes.
  • Performs other related duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, Masters strongly preferred, in sciences or related degree
  • 7 years experience in a hospital/medical environment
  • 3 years supervisory
  • Experience in community-engaged research and research bidirectionality preferred

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $126221.47 - $259476.19 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
