We are looking for a Research Scientist to join a dynamic team in College Park, MD.
Research Scientist – Level 1
The Level 1 Research Scientist evaluates and applies advanced scientific principles to support research and innovation initiatives. This role requires maintaining a strong understanding of emerging technologies, scientific theories, and industry trends to contribute to forward-looking research and potential product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory-based research and experimentation to support scientific studies and innovation efforts.
- Execute scientific studies and analyze results to inform research direction and technical decisions.
- Apply scientific principles and concepts to explore potential inventions, technologies, and products—often years in advance of formal product development.
- Stay current with advancements in scientific literature, industry developments, academic research, and technical conferences.
- Provide expert insight on the application of scientific theories and methodologies.
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property, including research findings and potential innovations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or Physics from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a related field.
- A Master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience.
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted (total of 6 years required).
- Strong understanding of scientific research methods and analytical techniques.
- Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and scientific advancements.

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
