Position Summary
The Kortum Lab in Rice University's Department of Bioengineering seeks a Research Scientist to support translational clinical research involving optical microscopy for evaluation of margin status during cancer surgery. The position will co-lead and coordinate development of array microscopes and sample preparation systems, support extensive clinical studies, evaluate imaging and diagnostic performance, validate artificial intelligence algorithms, and collect data for a future FDA submission.
Ideal Candidate Statement
The ideal candidate has postdoctoral experience in optical microscopy and/or translational clinical studies. Experience managing clinical imaging data, evaluating algorithm outputs, coordinating complex research activities, or collaborating directly with surgeons and pathologists is highly desirable.
Workplace Requirements
This position is exclusively on-site, with duties performed in person on the Rice University campus during the department's regular business hours. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required to support clinical studies or research activities. Per Rice Policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range: $63,731 - $80,400 annually.
This is an exempt, salaried position and is not eligible for overtime.
This is a term limited, one-year position funded by grant, soft, and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of funding.
