This Research Scientist position is a staff appointment for an individual holding a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree with laboratory experience, especially with nonhuman primate work experience. The classification of Research Scientist I is the entry-level position in the job hierarchy. They will work in a Biomedical Virology laboratory working on an Alzheimer's project study in a nonhuman primate model and testing vaccine effects on clinical outcomes, identifying biomarkers and other parameters involved in disease or protection against a viral disease with progression to vascular dementia, and preparation of scheduling and regulatory documents as well as progress reports and presentations. They will work with the Principal Investigator, the current staff/lab manager, and interact with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and staff.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Terminal Degree (Ph.D./M.D./D.V.M.,etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicant has a Ph.D., DVM, or MD in the Biological/Biomedical Sciences and/or Neurosciences field
  • Applicants have strong laboratory research experience in an academic environment
  • Applicants have experience working with and testing animal models, especially nonhuman primate
  • Applicants have experience working with organoid models
  • Technical skills and competencies to conduct quantifiable, meaningful research
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels, internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a positive, contributing member of a team
  • Ability to keyboard and utilize various standardized word processing, spreadsheet preparation, and presentation software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize work, performing assignments with minimal supervision
