POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research Scientist will join the NIH-funded Optimizing a Paraprofessional, Family Partner Navigation Model for Children (MOST) study team which aims to understand how to optimize the role of the family partner to improve access to mental health services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

DATA MANAGEMENT/DATA ANALYSES
  • Plans, coordinates and supports complex data analyses, including data cleaning, management, coding and regression modeling for mixed effects and multilevel modeling from survey data, electronic medical record (EMR) data), claims data and clinical trial databases..
  • Implements methods and techniques for new activities involved in extracting, coding, and using data for modeling analysis and epidemiologic studies. Uses STATA (statistical software), and other analytic software tools as necessary. Works on a day-to-day basis with the leadership team and evaluation team members to implement research protocols, including data cleaning, maintenance and analysis.
  • Writes custom scripts and software programs, using statistical programming languages (e.g. SAS) to aid in data analysis and management.

RESEARCH/WRITING
  • Works in partnership with PIs and senior staff for new grant proposal development, and preparation of research reports and presentations.
  • Conduct pre-to-research exploratory data analyses using descriptive statistics and data visualization.
  • Participates in the preparation of manuscripts, reports for funders, reports for the public/key stakeholders and national presentations

OTHER
  • Participates in meetings with partners/collaborators, and provides interim written and statistical summaries of results for discussion by co-investigators, collaborators, various officials, academics, allied groups and staff
  • Collaborates on submission of results to funding agencies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
  • Requires PhD Degree, preferably in a relevant health-related field (e.g. psychology or public health)

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of three years of experience in related work required.
  • Past supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong STATA or SAS, and/or other programming experience required.
  • Experience working with community and policy leaders preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Provide guidance and oversight to less senior team members
  • Thorough knowledge of research methodology and statistical methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of data structures, coding schemes, and data sources.
  • Attention to detail, documentation and record keeping
  • Strong computer literacy with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Access etc.) and Endnote.
