    We are hiring a Research Scientist (Part-time) to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Houston. In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain web-based adolescent health promotion programs; assisting PIs with grant writing and manuscript writing. Ideal candidate should have prior experience working with Native American communities, and experience developing and maintain web-based adolescent health promotion programs.What we do here changes the world. Position Summary:This Research Scientist position will plan, supervise, and direct research, investigation, and other technical operations for the DHHS-funded project, Ending the HIV/HCV/STI Epidemics in Indian Country (ETHIC) II. They will provide technical expertise to facilitate the design, implementation, and analysis of procedures to upgrade, maintain, anddisseminate web-based adolescent health promotion interventions for American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) youth, families, and youth-serving organizations, which enable the primary investigators to conduct research projects.Position Key Accountabilities:Determines feasibility of possible projects to ensure results will have a significant impact.Determines project feasibility in terms of staff, time, and resources.Develops professional service contract agreements with software developers, graphic artists, etc.Plans and performs quantitative and qualitative research studies to determine acceptability, usability, feasibility, impact, and reach of web-based adolescent health promotion interventions in AIAN communities.Identifies new research problems through contact with other researchers, community partners, or literature searches.Plans and conducts behavioral research projects (usability/feasibility testing; pilot testing; effect and implementation evaluation studies) in AIAN communities using mixed methods and community-based participatory research approaches.Conducts quantitative and qualitative data analysis and shares with investigators and community partners.Presents results in a written paper for publication, in a presentation at a meeting, or through personal contact with faculty members and other researchers.Maintains study correspondence and facilitates regular study meetings with investigators and community partners to ensure a collaborative, transparent research environment.Ensures direct reports follow safety procedures and attends basic safety training courses.Provides work direction and coordination to professional service agreement personnel within department.May lead projects and activities, including new grant applications to sustain and expand funding for related research activities.Performs other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:Experience working with Native American communities, preferred. Prior experience developing and maintaing web-based adolescent health promotion programs, preferred. Minimum Education:Doctorate Degree requiredMinimum Experience:2 years of experience in a related research environment and have verifiable publications within the field of the research project requiredPhysical Requirements:Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.Residency Requirement:Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
