Position Summary

This position will support advanced histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, spatial biology, and digital pathology workflows within the Pathology Services Core. The position can assist with tissue preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, IHC/IF staining, multiplex or spatial assay support, and general laboratory operations. Responsibilities may include preparing research specimens for downstream staining or imaging, supporting assay optimization and troubleshooting, maintaining reagent and specimen organization, documenting workflow steps, and assisting other team members as needed to support laboratory priorities.

The position will also support imaging and digital pathology activities, including scanning stained slides, performing image quality review, organizing digital files, annotating regions of interest, and assisting with image analysis or data management related to histology, IHC/IF, and spatial biology projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical judgment, familiarity with research histology workflows, and the ability to support complex assays where tissue quality, staining consistency, morphology, and imaging quality are essential to project success.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences

  1. Previous experience in a histology, pathology, spatial biology, molecular pathology, research, or core laboratory setting.

  2. Demonstrated experience with IHC, IF, multiplex staining, or related antibody-based assay workflows; slide preparation, staining, optimization, or troubleshooting).

  3. Familiarity with spatial biology workflows; tissue handling requirements, specialized slide preparation, assay readiness, ROI selection, imaging, or coordination with downstream molecular or analytical workflows.

  4. Experience with digital pathology or imaging platforms; whole slide scanning, fluorescence imaging, image quality review, slide annotation, or basic image analysis.

  5. Demonstrated ability to follow detailed protocols.
