Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

This position contributes to conducting research on age-related symptoms experienced by mothers who are carriers of the FMR1 premutation and have a child with fragile X syndrome. The research specialist will work with the faculty principal investigator and grant staff to contribute to a longitudinal NIH-funded research study conducting assessments, managing data, organizing findings and preparing reports.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting research
  • Direct experience working directly with families of children living with neurodevelopmental disorders or/or adults with neurodegenerative disease
  • Experience administering clinical standardized assessments
  • Experience with REDCap data management software

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Work with diverse populations, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Job Duties

Job Duty

The Research Specialist will conduct assessments with mothers who have children with fragile X syndrome. The individual will conduct interviews with mothers and collect data. This process will facilitate gathering the necessary information to conduct further research.

The Research Specialist will complete data entry and coding. The individual will enter research data from assessments into the database. This task will facilitate comparisons across various subjects.

The Research Specialist will complete other duties related to standardized test administration, clinical evaluation, or project-related responsibilities, such as processing travel, participant incentives, and reimbursements. This task will facilitate accurate, cohesive research by the research team.
