Medical Research Specialist for the Pathogen Detection and Quantification Core (PDQC) laboratory at the Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) for performing diagnostic assays on specimens and providing research support for investigators

  • B.S. or B.A. in biological sciences (or equivalent).
  • Three years or more experience in a research laboratory facility.

Preferred Qualification:

  • M.S. in biological sciences (or equivalent) with experience in nucleic acid technology
  • Proficiency in using molecular-based databases and software programs (e.g., Primer Express, Genbank), and in using informatics
  • Experience in training technicians, students, or postdoctoral fellows in techniques
  • Experience in using real-time PCR instruments (e.g. QuantStudio 12K Flex, or similar)
  • Experience in performing molecular, virologic and immunologic assays.
  • Experience in performing administrative tasks (e.g., ordering supplies, billing, scheduling)
  • Biosafety Level 3 experience
