Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Research Specialist assists faculty and staff in designing and implementing research projects. Independently plans, prepares, and conducts a wide variety of routine and non-routine (complex) laboratory procedures. Oversees multiple projects at a time. Records, tabulates, and analyzes data and assists with and provides expertise in the preparation of papers, posters, and scientific publications. Assists in training laboratory personnel.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience performing independent laboratory research experiments OR Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience performing independent laboratory research experiments. Prior experience in CRISPR genome editing, retinal organoid production, copy number inference based on single cell RNA-sequencing. DNA sequence file management and analysis preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification: A minimum Bachelor's degree, in a related scientific field (e.g., biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or psychology) required. Master's degree or above preferred in a related scientific field (e.g., biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or psychology).

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
