Job Summary

The University of Michigan has an exciting and enriching opportunity available for a responsible, organized, and motivated individual. Our office is hiring a Research Technician Intermediate to work on a long running stroke research project. This position is in Corpus Christi, TX.

This is a term-limited appointment ending 1 year from the hire date. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Responsibilities*

• Collecting medical record data from Corpus Christi area hospitals
• Using personal vehicles to travel to sleep appointments
• Consenting subjects, interviewing stroke patients
• Taking patients body measurements, applying a sleep monitoring device to

patients, picking up the device the next morning

• Uploading device data to sleep nosologist
• Entering data collected from the participant
• Making phone calls to schedule assessments
• Participate in weekly research meetings/training and communicate routine

correspondence regarding participants/interview status.

• The candidate will be expected to work a rotating evening shift, schedule flexibility is

required. Weekend, evening, and early morning availability is necessary. Candidates will be

required to cross-train in other job duties.

Required Qualifications*

• High school or equivalent and/or associate.
• 1+ years of experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others, ability to follow written instructions, and strong oral and written communication skills are required.

Desired Qualifications*

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred to serve Spanish-speaking population.
• Research experience and/or minimum of 2 years college preferred.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Schedule

Shifts are typically 8 hours. The candidate will be expected to work a rotating evening shift, schedule flexibility is required. Weekend, evening, and early morning availability is necessary.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
