Position Summary

The Research Technician position in the Besheer Lab at the UNC Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies (BCAS) supports NIH-funded research focused on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying addiction, particularly alcohol use, self-administration, relapse, and stress-related behaviors. This role involves conducting behavioral pharmacology experiments in rodent models, assisting with molecular analyses (e.g., immunohistochemistry, Western blot), and supporting multidisciplinary research approaches including pharmacological manipulations and chemogenetics.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Management Preferences

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.
  • Experience conducting behavioral experiments in rodents.
  • Experience working with rodent brain tissue, including microtome sectioning, immunohistochemistry processing and quantification, Western blots or RT-PCR.
