Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Operative discipline focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of defects of the teeth that do not require full coverage restorations for correction.
Position Summary
The Research Technician will support ongoing research activities within Dr. Sulaiman's Biomaterials Laboratory. Responsibilities include specimen preparation, laboratory organization and maintenance, data collection and analysis, assisting with research proposals and manuscripts, maintaining accurate research records, and supporting faculty and student research projects. The position will also assist in ensuring compliance with laboratory safety procedures and established research protocols.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
Experience conducting research in a materials science, biomaterials, dental materials, or similar laboratory environment, including specimen/sample preparation, data collection, or data management.
Experience utilizing laboratory software, computer applications, or data analysis programs to support research activities, maintain accurate records, or analyze research findings.
Experience supporting research proposal development, scientific writing, manuscript preparation, publications, or mentoring students or research trainees.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively in a research environment.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to perform routine laboratory duties, including standing, sitting, walking, bending, and moving laboratory supplies up to 25 pounds with or without accommodation.
