The Department of Atmospheric Sciences is hiring part-time temporary Research Technician I to support a data analysis project focused on air pollution prediction using machine learning and satellite data. The position, expected to last approximately 4.5 months, will support project-specific research activities under the direction of the research team. The individual will assist with data processing, numerical modeling, analysis, and related tasks to support project deliverables and research objectives.

Opportunities to Contribute:

  • Assemble and operate a numerical modeling system using machine learning and AI.

  • Provide logistical support with data storage in the laboratory.

  • Assist senior staff members in conducting data analysis and modeling procedures.

  • Assist undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.

  • Participate in training and professional development sessions as needed.

Salary: $15.85 an hour

Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Two years of related experience.

A well-qualified candidate may also possess:

  • Master's Degree in Data Sciences.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.

  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients, staff, and groups of various sizes

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
