The employee will work as a Research Technician III in the Section of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at the SOM. The employee will be responsible for performing experiments investigating cell signaling in cancer biology research. The primary site where work will be performed will be in the Tulane SOM. The employee will work with the research team to perform cellular biology assays and animal models of cancer. Necessary experiments include those involving molecular biology and Cell Biology, in adherence with the Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) in place. The candidate should be able to work independently under minimal supervision. The candidate will also be in charge of supporting the laboratory including assisting with supplies, maintaining equipment, and general laboratory maintenance.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's degree (BS) in any one of the following streams of sciences: microbiology, immunology, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, infectious disease, engineering, biological or general science.

  • One year of related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year of work experience with cellular and molecular techniques such as cell culture and cytotoxicity assays, protein assays, biology techniques including RNA extraction, and real-time PCR.

  • Familiarity with basic computational tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to perform meticulous laboratory work with careful attention to detail, and in strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Familiarity with bio-molecular methods.

  • Strong organizational skills.
