Assist in and contribute to the design, execute, and analyze complex experiments. Follow detailed protocols and help in identifying, troubleshooting, and solving problems associated with experimental protocols. Perform routine laboratory procedures that include but are not limited to molecular biology, biochemical assays, and sterile tissue culture.
Maintain clear, detailed written and digital notebooks of experimental design, setup, calculations, and execution of laboratory procedures. Assist with the acquisition of lab supplies, setup, upkeep, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Assist with mouse colony management, which includes animal handling, care record keeping, and performing experimental procedures. Basic animal care is provided by the university animal care UAC team; this position is not required to do routine animal care such as cage changes, cage cleaning, food and water refilling.
Clean and sterilize instruments, glassware, and equipment. Assist and follow lab safety protocols and established procedures for waste material accumulation and disposal. Train colleagues in the operation of equipment and experimental techniques.
