Job Summary

A research laboratory in the Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong scientific approach and excellent organizational skills to fill our open Research Technician position. The candidate will contribute to research focused on lung epithelial biology tissue regeneration and mechanisms of disease through maintenance of cell cultures, data collection, analysis, and record keeping. The position offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative research environment, gain experience with state-of-the-art methods, and contribute to projects with direct translational value to lung health.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include:

  • Three-dimensional cell culture of lung tissues as organoids
  • Confocal microscopy
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • DNARNA isolation and RT-qPCR analysis
  • Maintaining research reagents and maintaining detailed records of laboratory procedures
  • The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist in the preparation of research papers and meeting presentations.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or associates degree, and at least 2 years of experience, which can include undergraduate part-time laboratory work in cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to perform multi-task and develop solutions to basic technical problems
  • Strong attention to detail to tightly follow laboratory procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Minimum 1-year commitment with occasional weekend work required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in the life sciences
  • Experience in three-dimensional culture of lung cells
  • Working knowledge of lung biology
  • Record of contribution to publications

Background Screening
