Position Summary
The Kelada Lab in the UNC Department of Genetics is seeking a Research Technician who will lead a project focused on the identification of genes that influence response to air pollution. The technician will expose genetically diverse mice to air pollution using established protocols, then measure a suite of biological and/or physiologic responses at various time points after exposure. Downstream measurements of proteins and gene expression in the lung will be carried out using ELISAs and qRT-PCR, respectively. Subsequently, the technician will perform quantitative genetic analysis (QTL mapping) of the acquired data using established analytical pipelines.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
Prior experience in a laboratory setting
Ability to work with mice
Ability to perform quantitative genetic analysis
Strong attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate with the research team
