The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Technician position to join our neuroscience laboratory at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The selected incumbent will work closely with the laboratory team, assisting with experiments, collecting data, and maintaining laboratory equipment and mouse colony. A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in MATLAB or Python.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manipulations - mouse genotyping, stereotactic surgery, histology, and calcium imaging.
• Familiarity with optogenetic manipulations as well as relevant data analysis skills.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and mouse colony, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
• Communicate with team members and collaborators, including presenting results at meetings and conferences.
• Keep detailed records and report and discuss progress of work regularly with project supervisor and Principal Investigators.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in biology, neurobiology, or related field.
• At least (1) year of laboratory experience in neuroscience or related biology field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least (2) years of prior research experience in a neuroscience laboratory.
