Position Function:
Position will provide support for multiple research projects using non-invasive genetic sampling in the Carnivore and Population Ecology Lab at Mississippi State University. The successful candidate will perform duties in the field and laboratory to support black bear and coyote research, and will organize, manage and supervise activities in the genetics laboratory. The position will be primarily located at Mississippi State University (Starkville, MS) with occasional travel to field sites in Mississippi and Louisiana or to meet with state agency collaborators. Salary commensurate with qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and 4 years of relevant field/lab experience
Bachelor's degree with major course work in a curriculum appropriate for the field of assignment
Two years of post-secondary training in a curriculum appropriate for the field of assignment and two years of field and lab work experience including experimentation and research studies or closely related work experience
Valid U.S. driver''s license

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Willingness to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends when necessary. Position includes supervision of and collaborative work with technicians in both laboratory and field settings, with associated potential exposure to lab chemicals and biological samples, inclement weather, mud, insects, and native flora and fauna.
Travel may be frequent during sampling periods, with overnight stays.
Job frequently requires standing, walking, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Job occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, talking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
