Job Description

The Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Technologist 1 to join their team.

About this Opportunity

There are accurate biomarkers of some, but not all, of the protein aggregates in the brain of adult neurodegenerative disease patients. The Research Technologist 1 engages in projects that help tease apart which biomarkers are specific to clinical diagnosis, particularly early-stage diagnoses. This is accomplished by processing human blood samples and testing for protein biomarkers in blood, plasma, and other biofluids. Additionally, this position works with research coordinators and technicians to establish and maintain standard operating procedures, track sample collection, and process, store, and analyze samples.

This is a full-time day shift position located at Harborview Medical Center. The specific work schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager.

Required Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years' experience as a Laboratory Technician 2, or equivalent; OR a bachelor's degree in biology or an appropriate field of science or technology.
