The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Ctr for Clinical & Translational Sci, is seeking a Researcher.

The CCTS is in search of a Researcher for our clinical specimen processing lab. This position will triage and participate in the daily workflow of the lab. This will include daily assessment of needs, assignments, and tasks. Data entry into our enterprise data system, daily quality control checks, assisting senior lab members with equipment maintenance and inventory checks, and controls. Experience in handling human blood, including the separation of cells and isolation of DNA/RNA, is preferred.

As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Master''s degree in a related field OR Bachelor''s degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate''s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

• Related degrees: Biomedical, Chemistry, etc.

• Skills: laboratory technique skills associated with working in a GSL2 Lab, including sterile cell culture work; ability to separate human white blood cells into cell subsets.

• Cryopreservation of human white blood cells and the ability to perform in vitro culture of human cells.

• Knowledge and ability to work within our enterprise database system.

• Ability to multi-task, maintain records and filing systems, problem-solve, read and write, and be able to comprehend written and oral instructions.

• Ability to train others, use a personal computer and related software, work as part of a team, and work independently.
