Reserve Deputy (Part-time Volunteer Position)Our Reserve Deputies are part-time, non-salaried, commissioned law enforcement officers. Reserve Deputies have the same responsibilities and duties as Patrol deputies. Opportunities exist within the Reserve program for individuals to serve in all areas of law enforcement.An applicant for Reserve Deputy must meet the following criteria:Be at least 21 years of ageBe a citizen of the United States (born or naturalized) or a permanent resident of the United StatesPossess a valid Louisiana Driver's LicensePossess a high school diploma, a "General Educational Development" (GED) equivalentMust have no felony convictions of perjury, false statements or moral turpitude charge as an adultMust not have used, tried, experimented with marijuana, illegal drugs or illegal use of prescription drugs in the last 12 months. Any falsification, omission or misrepresentation will disqualify you from further consideration. Drug use is discussed during the polygraph examination.And must have one of the following:1 year of experience as a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified peace officer in a full-time position, whose job duties include armed duty with the power of arrest1 year of continuous active duty service in the military2 years of full-time work experience60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university30 semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university and currently enrolled as a full-time student*Note: Work experience and college credit may be combined to be equivalent to 2 years of full-time work experience, where 30 semester hours equals one year of full-time work experienceAll applicants will be subject to a criminal history check, physical fitness test, polygraph examination, psychological risk assessment and pre-employment medical exam and drug test.Disqualifiers:Felony convictionsConvictions of perjury, false statements, or moral turpitude as an adultIllegal marijuana use in the last 12 monthsIllegal use of prescription drugs in the last 24 monthsAny use of illegal drugs (other than marijuana) in the last 24 monthsNote: Any falsification, omission or misrepresentation of information during the selection process will disqualify you from further consideration. Drug use will be discussed during the truth verification stage of the selection process.
