Fort Worth, United States | Posted on 03/11/2026For a small, privately-owned oil & gas company primarily focused on Permian Assets where the company holds a non-operated position, function as the primary Reservoir Engineer for the firm, working hand-in-hand with senior leadership and the CEO.This role will conduct technical due diligence to identify behind-pipe opportunities, analyze and control LOE, perform detailed acquisition evaluations, and work alongside the company's leadership, engineer, land and geo staff to integrate successful acquisitions into the corporate systems.Candidates must be highly independent with attention to detail skills, while also demonstrating a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of engineering and oil and gas principles, processes, and procedures.RESPONSIBILITIES On a well-by-well basis, review production history and decline curves of current assets the company receives revenue from that are operated by outside E & P firmsEvaluate operator quality and operating historyAnalyze LOE and cost structuresSanity-check seller assumptions and cash flowIdentify red flags (mechanical, operational, or economic)Perform detailed evaluation of acquisitions, divestitures, and/or trades that arise from internally generated and third-party deal flowDevelop type curves, including composing type curve areas and well lists based on similar attributes (including but not limited to subsurface conditions, target zone, vintage, D&C design, well-spacing), refinement and application of parent-child/co-development risking methodology, and identifications of offset analog pad/project developmentsParticipate in management presentations and/or data rooms, lead technical due diligence efforts, and able to load and calibrate data from acquisition data roomsPrepare PhDWin or ARIES databases incorporating underwriting assumptions and prepare cashflow projections, presentations, and supporting documentationsObtain, organize, QA/QC, and input data into internal platforms to provide technical support and assistance with tracking, screening, and data managementPerform scoping work on potential acquisition targets and/or divestiture candidates based on internal private data and publicly available data sourcesAssist in continuous process improvement of internal best practices for A&D evaluations and related workflowsAssist engineering team by providing technical support required to perform basic studiesREQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering or related field of study10+ years of relevant reservoir engineering, asset evaluation, production analysis and acquisitions evaluations experience at an operator, non-operator, private equity sponsor and/or investment bankHighly proficient in Aries or PhDWin and proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and AccessRelevant understanding of oil & gas underwriting process and preparing cashflow projections and presentationsStrong understanding of oil and gas terminology, public data sources, and information typesProven self-starter with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous priorities with a track record of process improvement, automation, and modernization of systemsStrong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with high attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to perform various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk, project-based environment#J-18808-Ljbffr
