TITLE: Director of Instructional Technology & Information Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Type "A" or "B" Alaska Teacher Certificate.
  • Master's Degree in computer science, instructional technology, or related field.
  • Five years of experience supervising informational, educational, and management technology staff and resources.
  • Five years of experience administering large-scale technology systems.
  • Five years of experience managing LAN and WAN.
  • Technology expertise with microcomputers and networked systems.
  • Experience working with network management.
  • Experience integrating technology into the classroom setting.
  • Good communication skills

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of NWABSD

SUPERVISES: Technology Department Staff

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership to the educational technology program by developing, planning and implementing an on-going District Technology Program and by providing curricular and staff development support to users districtwide.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical and organizational leadership and direction for the Instructional Technology and Telecommunications Program; direct development and evaluation of major hardware, software and peripheral equipment; develop technology curriculum and provide support for integration; oversee development, implementation and maintenance of districtwide plan for educational technology; develop secure and manage district budget for technology and write to granting sources to support technology goals; establish and maintain standards for educational technology; develop and maintain an on-going training program for technology; direct the implementation and support of the districts wide area network including integration of voice and data; oversee the technology systems that support the business, financial and student records systems allowing for reporting to appropriate state and federal agencies; manage and maintain technology systems to support student learning in the classroom; oversee systems to support all technology users in the district; assist senior management in the application of technology to their areas of responsibility; represent NWABSD and its technology issues to outside organizations; serve as technology representative on active curriculum committees; supervise technology support staff in performance their responsibilities; direct all aspects of the distance delivery program; be current in state of the art technology including distance delivery systems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with all NWABSD departments.

SALARY: Depending on experience / negotiated salary schedule
