Resident Assistant-Student Worker (Fall Semester 2026 and Winter Semester 2027)

Terms of Employment: August through May. Generally, twenty hours per week. Hours vary and will include nights and weekends as determined by the college. Candidates must live in student housing.

Classification: Student Worker

Compensation: Free housing & meal plan (prorated, as needed, upon time in position)

FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The Resident Assistant (RA) is a residential staff live-in position that serves as a mentor for housing residents and fosters the College's Housing mission to create an inclusive and healthy living environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the housing team in maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy living environment while ensuring compliance with college, housing, and safety policies and procedures; provide basic emergency response support as needed.
  • Build relationships, assist residents with academic and personal needs, and facilitate resolution of student concerns by providing referrals to campus resources as needed.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for residents on general questions related to college housing.
  • Communicate serious matters, emergencies, needed repairs, and/or safety concerns to the Manager of College Housing.
  • Work scheduled front desk shifts.
  • Work night and weekend duty shifts on a rotating basis with other resident assistants.
  • Attend regular residential team staff and resident housing meetings.
  • Assist with tasks such as move-in/move-out and housing orientation.
  • Create and maintain monthly bulletin boards.
  • Plan events for the College's residential housing community.
  • Demonstrate behavior in support of a multicultural environment, modeling a positive and professional demeanor while acting as an ambassador for the college.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to resident students and staff including compliance with FERPA and HIPPA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: Reports to the Manager of College Housing.

Education/Experience: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. One to two years of customer service experience is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Resident Assistants must be full-time SC4 students (enrolled or to be enrolled in 12 credits/contact hours or more each semester) during the terms of employment.
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Have proficient computer and phone skills.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
  • Display honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical behavior while maintaining confidentiality.
