County Home Resident Care Aide (Full-Time)
Hours of Employment: 1st Shift: 6a-2p 2nd Shift: 2p-10p 3rd Shift: 10p-6a
General Description The resident care aide (RCA) reports directly to RCA coordinator, the nursing supervisor. Under general supervision, assists LPN in providing care to the residents following facility policies and procedures. Maintains order throughout the facility. Maintains residents' confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions Keeps residents clean, well-groomed and comfortable. Assists residents in daily bathing & dressing, hygienic care, shampoos, combs & brushes hair, trims fingernails, shaves residents. Applies lotion & creams & reports skin disorders to nursing personnel. Conducts bed checks. Participates in scheduled rounds. Works flexible hours. Escorts residents to and from dining room and/or all home areas. Serves food/drink & snacks, delivers sick trays as necessary. Monitors residents during mealtimes to ensure dining room is a safe and clean environment. Dusts and mops all of the floors and furniture; Mops and disinfects all rooms, halls, stairs and bathrooms. Washes and dusts walls and clean windows. Makes beds. Maintains residents' rooms. Cleans bedside stands, walkers/rollators. Stores and moves supplies. Empties trash receptacles. Changes wet and soiled bed linens. Observes and reports changes in residents' condition to nursing personnel. Recognizes unusual or threatening situations. Immediately reports to the shift nurse any observations related to resident health or safety. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with residents. Maintains personal hygiene maintenance. Assists and trains new employees. Maintains respectfully courteous interactions with the admin team, shift nurse, peers, and residents at all times. Upholds residents' rights and reports any concerns to shift nurse. Assists with related duties throughout the facility. Performs other duties as assigned by County Home Administration or shift nurse. Performs all assigned duties in an effective, timely, and professional manner.
Qualifications • Graduate from high school or equivalent • Six (6) months experience in a related field preferred • Valid Ohio driver's license with clean driving record • Proof of adequate insurance coverage • Must possess and maintain reliable transportation • Ability to communicate and work closely with various populations of residents
Knowledge • Federal, state and local laws and regulations • MCH policies and procedures • Safety procedures that include basic first aid and CPR • Basic housekeeping and laundry
Abilities • Operate department equipment • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing • Utilize office equipment appropriate to assigned duties • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Mental/Physical Requirements Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and on a telephone. Sufficient visual acuity or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation to comprehend written work instructions and to review, evaluate, and prepare a variety of written documents and text materials. Regularly required to stand, walk, use stairs, sit; use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Sufficient visual acuity or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate a county vehicle. Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment and to operate a motor vehicle. Physical strength and agility sufficient to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-100 pounds. While performing job duties, occasionally exposed to residents with emotional outbursts and to outside weather conditions. May be frequently exposed to toxic and caustic chemicals and risk exposure to blood and body fluids. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
