    Description

    Luther Manor is seeking Resident Care Assistants for 2nd and 3rd Shift.

    The Resident Care Assistant provides cares to the resident including activities of daily living, assisting with meals, preparing and administering medications and treatments. They also assist in person-centered, individual care including social and spiritual well-being of each resident.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Encourages and models a team approach to accomplish the Luther Manor mission of providing excellent care and services to all customers.
    • Administer scheduled medications/treatments prescribed for routine administration according to medication administration policy and procedures. Administers select PRN medications/treatments only after the nurse has made an assessment and authorized the administration. Document all medications/treatments given in MAR.
    • Ongoing communication with nurse and other team members throughout the shift. Communicate observed changes in resident conditions or any other concerns to the nurse.
    • Take and document blood pressure and pulse in MAR as indicated in conjunction with prescribed medications. Take and document monthly blood pressure and weights in resident's record. Report to nurse any values outside of normal limits.
    • Follow directions given by the nurse. Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families and co-workers. Work as a team member with all other disciplines.
    • Follows state and federal regulations as outlined in the employee handbook, nursing policy and procedure manuals, human resource manual and the resident bill of rights.
    • Attends and participates in team meetings as required.
    • Completes a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education annually as required by HFS 83.
    • Follows HFS 83 regulations as outlined by the State of WI.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all residents, departmental and organizational information.
    • Responds to call lights in a timely manner.
    • Reports all safety hazards (potential or actual) to nurse in charge.
    • Transport residents to appointments in the clinic or beauty shop as well as to life enrichment as needed.
    • Provides direct resident care in accordance with residents Individual Service Plan (ISP). Works under the direction of the nurse to ensure all resident needs are met.
    • Assist residents with meals as needed including but not limited to timely delivery and pick-up of meal trays and serving residents in the dining room.
    • Ensures cleanliness of resident's room and all common areas daily.
    • Offer invitations to residents for life enrichment opportunities provided throughout the day.
    • Complete Luther Manor annual trainings as required.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • High School Education or Equivalent
    • Must be 18 years of act per State Requirements.
    • Successful complete Caregiver Background check every four years as outlined by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
    • Successful completion of the required CBRF training as outlined in HFS 83 including the Medication Assistant Training Program and is certified by the State of Wisconsin for medication administration in a CBRF setting.
    • Has received instruction and coursework to measure and record blood pressure and radial pulse.
    • Has received instruction on medication actions, medication effects on the body systems and side effects, especially in relation to geriatric residents.
    • Ability to administer and document medications to Courtyards residents in a safe manner. Ability to document medication administration legibly and accurately.
    • The ability to communicate effectively. Ability to read and write English.
    • Must be able to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. Must be able to transfer and transportation of residents with the average weight of 165 pounds.
    • Mobility to spend 90% of the work shift standing and/or moving about the work area.
    • Assist with orientation of new Resident Assistants.
    • Follow Luther Manor dress code.
