Resident Engagement Services Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Resident Engagement Services Coordinator will manage resident services programming and community partnerships at various apartment buildings in DC, with the purpose of ensuring the resident's housing stability. The Resident Engagement Service Coordinator will help connect residents to resources, provide social service coordination upon their request, and act as a liaison between them and other service agencies, to provide support in meeting their basic needs and maintaining housing. 

The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $54,000 - $56,000, commensurate with experience.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage resident services programming 
• Build rapport with residents and assist them with connecting to social services upon request, including but not limited to energy assistance, medical and behavioral healthcare, substance use treatment, employment services, legal aid, financial and credit counseling, etc.
• Create and distribute monthly activity calendars, event flyers, and newsletters
• Schedule, plan, advertise, and host all recurring and one-time resident events, coordinating with other on-site staff as needed and engaging residents whenever possible
• Communicate accurate resident event details to residents via multiple mediums and ensure they have up-to-date information about events at all times
• Engage residents in designing and implementing their visions for programming
• Collect resident feedback on programming and implement as possible
• Assist residents with obtaining basic needs items, e.g. hygiene and clothing items and transportation assistance
• Provide support to on-site property management and social services staff in addressing resident challenges and connecting them to resources, as requested by staff or residents 
• Maintain accurate records of daily resident interactions and assistance provided 
• Ensure that resident rosters, incident report trackers, and all other key metrics are up-to-date 
• Ensure that residents have accurate and up-to-date information about services and funding assistance opportunities at all times, e.g. emergency rental and utilities assistance programs
• Engage local organizations and community partners (e.g., schools, churches, volunteer orgs, etc.) to assist with regular programming and/or donations for residents

• Attentive, empathetic leadership: As our first point of contact for residents, the Resident Engagement Services Coordinator cultivates a sense of belonging to make sure every single person feels welcome and has a role to play. They empathize with the communities we work with and put people at ease, especially when there are lines of difference or power. They listen to understand people's needs and take steps based on that input.
• Relationship-building: Part of the Resident Engagement/Service Coordinator's job is connecting with people from different backgrounds. They find (and even create) opportunities to deepen connections and build authentic, mutual relationships with residents and staff across lines of difference, such as race, gender, or other identities. They truly welcome viewpoints that differ from their own, and they are able to “sit with” discomfort when people express themselves in ways that are not familiar to them.
• Adaptability and problem solving: The Resident Engagement/Services Coordinator is always ready to take advantage of unexpected opportunities and address obstacles. They look for the root of both simple and complex problems, so they can seek solutions. They approach work with a spirit of “yes” and adapt as things change, which they often do.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum two years experience working with people who have experienced homelessness or other vulnerable populations required
• Experience working with seniors preferred
• Experience planning/facilitating group activities preferred

• Passion for ending homelessness and centering those with lived experience in that pursuit
