We are currently seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join our NYC-area team.Position OverviewAs a Resident Engineer, you will oversee construction inspection and project management activities for highway, bridge, and civil infrastructure projects. This role requires hands-on field experience, technical expertise, and leadership to ensure projects meet design, safety, and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve construction-related issues. Review project documentation, including plans, drawings, and specifications, for accuracy and completeness. Review and approve engineering and project submissions such as RFIs, working drawings, and value engineering requests. Conduct materials inspection and acceptance prior to installation. Monitor construction activities to verify adherence to plans and specifications. Track, document, and manage project issues and conditions. Document field conditions and completed work. Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance on construction inspection; record meeting minutes when required. Contribute to and prepare monthly project status reports.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent certification Active New York Professional Engineer (PE) license or NICET IV required Minimum 8 years of experience as a Resident Engineer; 5 years in highway and bridge construction Experience with NYSDOT or NYSTA projects preferred Strong knowledge of rail design practices and construction techniques Meet background check requirements 30-Hour OSHA Certification Working knowledge of CPM scheduling; P6 experience preferred Ability to perform quantity and engineering computations, interpret plans and specifications, and apply inspection codes and material testing requirements Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards Proficiency with computer software and mobile devices for documentation and reporting Physical ability to perform site inspections in various weather conditions Detail-oriented with excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skillsPreferred Skills & ExperienceExperience in highway, bridge, and rail infrastructure projects Knowledge of construction management practices and quality assurance protocols Experience with design-build and conventional project delivery Strong stakeholder and client communication skillsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive Salary: $180,000 - $215,000 annually (based on experience) Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays Performance-Based Bonuses Professional Development & Licensing SupportWellness Perk: gym membership reimbursementEqual Opportunity EmployerGarg Consulting Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
