Job Description:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is now accepting applications for a Resident in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The LVMC offers specific training programs designed to prepare residents for active careers in academia or specialty practice and for certification by the appropriate specialty college. The residency employment terms are renewed annually within the three year program duration, contingent on available funding. Residents will follow specific program guidelines and may rotate through various internal and external specialty areas specific to their program’s requirements.  Residents are expected to provide backup duties in emergency cases, along with weekend and after-hours obligations. Residents participate in clinical rounds and book club, as well as various section and departmental academic programs. Attendance and participation in the seminar component of the training program is required by all residents

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must have successfully completed a DVM, or equivalent, degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Candidates for the residency will be required to have completed a minimum of 1 year of clinical practice or internship experience prior to the start of the residency.
  • Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, in compliance with the Controlled Substances Registration Act, prior to engaging in clinical practice.
  • Licensure with the Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine by the employment start date.


Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
