Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente - Southern California Permanente Medical Group has an opening for the Medical Physics Residency Program in Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine. The residency program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP). The program provides structured training and progress assessment in all aspects of clinical medical physics in diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine, with direct supervision by the medical physics faculty. Training occurs in 15 regional hospitals and affiliated medical offices across Southern California. The curriculum provides comprehensive, mentored, hands-on experience, and progressive responsibility providing the opportunity to work towards becoming fully independent upon completion of the program. The medical physics resident will be expected to work in this training position for 3 years to qualify for both ABR Diagnostic and Nuclear Medical Physics certification exams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, performs acceptance testing on all types of radiological imaging equipment to meet new equipment specifications and baseline image quality assurance metrics.
  • Under supervision, performs radiation dosimetry calculations and computerized data analysis.
  • Under supervision, performs equipment surveys including State of California, American College of Radiology (ACR) and Joint Commission required testing of diagnostic modalities such as radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, CT, ultrasound, MRI and nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Support clinical medical physics of diagnostic imaging modalities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist with clinical support as well as health system staff training and education.
  • Assist with administrative efforts with regards to inspections and regulations.
  • Fulfill duties as assigned, including proper and complete documentation of clinical projects and clinical rotations.
