Residental Manager

WCS Healthcare is partnering with a well-established social service organization seeking a dedicated and experienced Residential Manager to oversee the daily operations of an OPWDD residential program in Port Jefferson Station, NY.

This residence is home to 10 adult male individuals who have resided in the program for many years. The home is considered a safety-focused environment due to residents with challenging behavioral needs. We are seeking a strong, hands-on leader who can effectively manage the residence, support staff development, navigate family dynamics, and ensure the highest quality of care for residents.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day operations of the residential program
• Supervise, mentor, train, and develop Direct Support Professionals and residential staff
• Foster a safe, structured, and supportive living environment
• Utilize effective de-escalation techniques and proactive behavioral interventions
• Lead staff through challenging situations and behavioral incidents
• Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations, agency policies, and documentation requirements
• Coordinate with clinical teams, families, care managers, and other stakeholders
• Handle staffing, scheduling, performance management, and employee development
• Promote person-centered services and positive outcomes for residents
• Build productive relationships with highly involved family members

 

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an OPWDD residential setting required
• Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
• Strong understanding of behavioral supports, crisis intervention, and de-escalation strategies
• Experience working with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors
• Ability to lead confidently and maintain composure during crisis situations
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Valid New York State Driver's License required

 

SCIP Certification

• SCIP Certification is preferred
• Training will be provided for qualified candidates who are not currently certified
• Must be willing and able to complete SCIP training, including approved physical intervention techniques
