Job Summary

 

Provides direct leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Residential Aide team while also delivering direct client care within the Healing Center. This role is responsible for supporting staff performance, ensuring adequate staffing coverage, coordinating daily operations, and fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.

 

In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the RA Supervisor provides direct, supportive care to adult clients residing at the Healing Center, a residential treatment program serving Native Americans experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This position helps ensure client safety, supports daily routines, assists with transportation and crisis response, and maintains a structured, respectful, and culturally supportive environment.

 

Primary Job Duties

  • Develop, maintain, and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and operational efficiency.
  • Review and approve time-off requests and coordinate staffing adjustments for call-outs and vacancies.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and provide ongoing performance feedback to Residential Aide staff.
  • Coordinate and facilitate orientation and onboarding for new team members.
  • Deliver staff education and in-the-moment training through individual and group instruction.
  • Develop, conduct, and document employee performance evaluations.
  • Maintain staffing records, attendance logs, and other workforce documentation.
  • Monitor attendance, address staffing concerns, and promote accountability among team members.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of residential unit operations in collaboration with the Manager of Nursing.
  • Serve as the primary resource and first-line supervisor for Residential Aide staff.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical, cultural, and operational teams to support coordinated client care and program operations.
  • Model professional behavior and foster a respectful, culturally supportive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Promote healing, wellness, accountability, and community while supporting the mission and goals of the Healing Center.
  • Participate in direct client care activities as needed to ensure client safety and continuity of services.

 

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience leading or supervising teams required.
  • Experience working in a residential treatment, behavioral health, human services, or related setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support staff while fostering a positive team environment.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and respond effectively and calmly in crisis situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Respect for and willingness to support Dakota culture, language, traditions, and healing practices.
  • Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to meet motor pool insurability requirements.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as needed.
  • This position is subject to testing for drugs (THC included) and alcohol in accordance with Federal Department of Transportation regulations, as well as the SMSC Drug/THC and Alcohol Policy.
