The Opportunity
As a Residential Architect at LEH Homes, you will own the full architectural design process from concept through permit-ready drawings, shaping homes that will be built and lived in across the region. You will turn homeowner ideas and sales concepts into complete, coordinated construction documents that reduce RFIs, streamline permitting, and support smooth field execution.
This role is ideal for an architect who loves residential work, understands wood-framed construction and production homebuilding, and wants to see their designs built repeatedly at scale while continuously refining and improving standard plans.
What You'll Do
- Develop complete architectural drawing sets, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, and construction details that are accurate, coordinated, and permit-ready.
- Maintain, refine, and expand our standard plan library and elevation styles, including Farmhouse, Spanish, and Contemporary designs, to respond to market trends and buyer feedback.
- Coordinate closely with structural, MEP, and civil consultants to integrate redlines, resolve conflicts, and keep drawing sets current and consistent.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable IBC/IRC requirements, subdivision design guidelines, accessibility standards, and energy codes relevant to our projects.
- Value-engineer plans for efficiency, constructability, and cost without sacrificing curb appeal, functionality, or overall design intent.
- Prepare complete permit submittal packages and respond promptly and professionally to plan review comments to keep project schedules on track.
- Support construction teams by addressing RFIs, issuing clarifications, and preparing as-built updates based on field conditions and changes.
- Manage drawing standards, title blocks, file organization, and version control to ensure consistency and reduce errors across all projects.
What Success Looks Like
- Within the first 6–12 months, you are independently producing permit-ready drawing sets that move through plan review with minimal comments or resubmittals.
- Our standard plan library and elevation offerings are noticeably improved in clarity, consistency, and market appeal, with your design input reflected in multiple active communities.
- Construction and field teams report fewer RFIs related to plan quality, and any issues that arise are resolved quickly through clear, buildable solutions.
- Consultant coordination runs smoothly, with redlines incorporated accurately and on time, and drawing standards are consistently applied across all projects.
What We're Looking For
- B.Arch or M.Arch, with several years of hands-on residential architectural design experience; production homebuilding experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD for producing detailed construction documents; familiarity with Bluebeam, SketchUp, or Enscape is a plus.
- Strong understanding of wood framing, roof systems, and detailing for desert or similar climates, with a focus on performance and durability.
- A portfolio that demonstrates residential design strength, alignment with Farmhouse, Spanish, and Contemporary styles, and a high level of attention to detail and constructability.
