Are you ready to be part of something bigger?

Do you enjoy solving tough HVAC problems, meeting new people, and making homes more comfortable—safely and efficiently? At Five Star Heating & Cooling, part of Southern Home Services, you’ll do meaningful hands-on work backed by a company that’s growing nationwide. Southern Home Services acquires, owns, and operates residential HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical companies across the U.S., and we’re inviting business-minded leaders like you to help shape our next chapter.

Why this role matters

As a Residential Climate Control Maintenance Technician, you’ll be the face of service excellence—handling maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for residential HVAC systems (and occasional light commercial). Your mission: keep systems running safely and efficiently, communicate clearly with homeowners, follow safety standards, and document each visit thoroughly.

Can you see yourself doing this?

  • Cleaning, tuning, and repairing HVAC equipment—air handlers, ductwork, vents, and condensate drainage—so every component works as intended.
  • Diagnosing issues in residential systems and performing same-day service to restore performance.
  • Presenting professional, expert recommendations based on customer needs and system condition.
  • Jumping in on additional tasks as assigned to support the team.

What you bring

  • 2–5+ years of hands-on HVAC experience; residential focus preferred.
  • EPA certification (must-have).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Pro-level troubleshooting and critical thinking for complex problems.
  • A positive, quality-driven approach to every job.
  • Customer service skills and professional interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Team-first attitude with flexibility and creativity in dynamic environments.

Physical realities of the job

  • Lift 50 lbs regularly; up to 100 lbs on occasion.
  • Climb ladders; enter attics/crawlspaces; work in tight quarters; drive between calls; push/pull/carry; use hand tools; perform detailed fine-motor work.
  • Ability to drive.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, including attics and crawlspaces.
  • Stand, walk, sit; communicate in person and by phone.
  • Use hands to handle/feel objects/controls; reach with hands/arms.
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch.
  • Frequent exposure to hot/cold temps and weather like wind, rain, ice, and snow.

What’s in it for you

We provide a career path, not just a job—complete with flexible scheduling, professional training, and on-the-job development so you can grow your craft and your career.

  • Dependable, year-round workload
  • Incentives tied to quality results
  • Weekly pay
  • PTO and paid holidays
  • Medical, dental, vision plans
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Company vehicle
  • Employee discounts
  • Displayed pay represents base plus average SPIFFS/commissions earned at this location
