Hourly Wage: $31.48

About the Role:

Performs plan reviews and construction inspections to ensure compliance with County building codes, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and minimum energy efficiency standards. The position provides technical guidance to contractors and homeowners, interprets codes, and ensures construction activities meet safety and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Performs pre-permit plan reviews to verify compliance with building, accessibility, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Inspects construction work at designated stages to ensure it conforms to approved plans and County codes.
  • Ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and energy efficiency regulations.
  • Interprets and applies building codes based on professional experience and current standards.
  • Answers technical questions from contractors, homeowners, and the public regarding code requirements.
  • Collaborates with the Building Official to resolve complex, site-specific code questions and provide interpretations.
  • Reviews submitted construction documents to ensure they meet minimum standards for safety and performance.
  • Documents inspection results and communicates findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Recommends corrective actions and improvements to bring projects into compliance.
  • Serves as Secretary and Recording Secretary for the Electrical and Mechanical Boards of Appeals.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a related field required with experience in the construction trades or inspection areas.
