Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time administrative experience (student experience may be considered). Experience in crisis management and/or student conduct. Experience working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and/or community organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master''s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience with the principles of student conduct, due process, and/or student engagement & development theories in a higher education context. Experience with data management and/or report generation. Experience in college/university setting. Experience with a conduct management system (Maxient, Advocate, etc). Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google applications.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Residential Community Standards Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day administrative functions for the Associate Director of Residential Conduct and Community Standards. The incumbent will be responsible for confidential files, scheduling, record keeping, and students will assist with conducting case review, investigation, and resolution within established guidelines . The incumbent should be able to communicate effectively with our diverse campus population, have strong organizational skills, multitask, and provide strong customer service. The Incumbent must be able to produce accurate documents independently and have knowledge of student conduct adjudication. The incumbent will be responsible for researching issues, assessing needs, preparing reports, and assisting with resolving student conduct matters within established guidelines. The incumbent will be primary administrative contact when the Associate Director of Residential Conduct and Community Standards is not available and may refer matters as necessary.

  • Support the Residential Conduct & Community Standards Office by assisting students, parents, and families with policy-related questions, resources, and services for incoming, current, and former undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Assess inquiries, identify individual needs, and deliver accurate student conduct information using university-wide systems and university records, referring complex matters to supervisory staff as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members to address a wide range of questions and ensure timely, consistent communication.
  • Support departmental communications by serving as the backup responder for shared departmental email inboxes.
  • Track and maintain operational resources, including office supplies, contact lists, and shared resources.
  • Troubleshoot first-level problems/concerns presented by students, parents, faculty, staff, and other constituents.
  • Respond to urgent emergencies involving students, parents, etc., and make appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Receive, process, and investigate referrals of alleged violations of the Code of Student Responsibility and assist with related review, documentation, and follow-up as directed.
  • Meet with the parties in the case and review the administrative hearing process as appropriate and under established procedures.
  • Assist with cases triage; meet with and assist in obtaining interview/obtain written statements from the complainant (s), respondent(s), and witnesses.
  • Assist with rendering sanctions following the hearing results, as well as communication of decisions as needed and under the direction of supervisory staff.
  • Review Incident Reports.
  • Assist with conduct database management (i.e., running reports, conduct checks, hearing follow-up).
  • Prepare sensitive and confidential files and records as requested; track all hearing officer paperwork submissions; ensure all paperwork is correct and in compliance.
  • Track and log police reports into the Advocate Database and close out cases in the database when the matter is complete.
  • Support staff in conducting research and collecting data, reviewing and summarizing assessments, and preparing reports, proposals, and other official documents.
  • Assist with the management of student conduct in hall programming and social norming campaigns.
  • Serve as a resource for campus and community partners such as the Counseling Center, Student Health Services, University Police, Financial Aid, etc.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up in the context of the campus-wide Consult Assess Respond Educate (CARE) Team.
  • Assist the Assistant & Associate Director in preparing for training initiatives, workshops, and programs. Serve on departmental/divisional/University committees.
  • Assist in addressing crisis situations and preventing safety and security risks while using discretion and independent judgment regarding escalation of the incident within established guidelines.
  • Provide 24-hour support and direction to student staff, responding to and managing crisis situations as needed.
  • Professional Development and Committee Involvement: Participate in opportunities that promote your learning, growth, and development (i.e., classes, training, committees, webinars).
  • Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas within and outside your department/unit (i.e., campus-wide traditions, events, programs).
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required at times.

Special Notes:

This is a full-time live-on appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

Salary: $51,261 + $4,000 Location Pay = $55,261 Total Compensation

In addition to the employee''s base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
