Residential Construction Assistant Superintendent

Position Summary

The Residential Construction Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in managing the day-to-day construction activities of residential projects. This position helps coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, monitor quality and safety, and ensure homes are built according to plans, specifications, and company standards.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced residential construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Superintendent with daily management of residential construction projects from start to completion.
  • Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and trades.
  • Monitor jobsite progress and ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.
  • Assist with maintaining construction schedules and coordinating upcoming trades.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections to identify quality issues, incomplete work, and potential delays.
  • Verify that subcontractor work meets company quality standards.
  • Assist with scheduling inspections and coordinating with building officials as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Track materials, deliveries, and jobsite inventory.
  • Assist with punch-list completion and final home preparation.
  • Document jobsite activities, progress, deficiencies, and changes.
  • Communicate project updates and potential issues to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Help resolve job site issues and coordinate solutions with subcontractors.
  • Assist with walkthroughs and address construction-related concerns when required.
  • Review plans, blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work to ensure construction is progressing correctly.
  • Help identify potential scheduling, quality, or budget issues before they become significant problems.

Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of residential construction experience preferred.
  • Experience working on custom homes, production homes, renovations, or multifamily residential projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and building practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with construction management software is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
