SG Construction Company
Residential Construction Project Manager
Location: East Bay (Walnut Creek/Concord/Danville)
Company Overview
SG Construction Company is an outdoor-living general contractor serving the East San Francisco Bay Area, with a focus on the 680 corridor from Berkeley to Walnut Creek. We specialize in custom outdoor environments that blend functionality, craftsmanship, and durability -- the kinds of spaces where families actually gather, relax, and reconnect.
We are known for building projects that last, being honest and transparent, communicating clearly through our 24/7 online customer portal, and treating every home as if it were our own. Our work includes high-end decks, pavilions, pergolas, cabanas, outdoor kitchens, ADUs, and full backyard remodels.
The Opportunity
As our Residential Construction Project Manager, you will own multiple custom outdoor-living projects from pre-construction through final walkthrough across the East Bay (Walnut Creek/Concord/Danville). You will be the operational hub of each job, keeping schedules and budgets on track while protecting our reputation for quality and client care.
This is a hands-on, field-focused role where you will regularly be on site, coordinating crews and subcontractors, solving problems in real time, and guiding homeowners through a process that often becomes the highlight of how they use their home. You will work directly with the Owner, with clear line of sight to your impact and opportunity to grow as the company grows.
What You'll Do
- Plan and launch each project from pre-construction through closeout, reviewing plans, engineering, estimates, and contract scope so the job starts set up for success.
- Build and maintain realistic project schedules, coordinating sequencing with field crews, subcontractors, deliveries, inspections, and long-lead items to keep work flowing.
- Monitor progress daily and weekly using tools like JobTread or similar software, tracking labor, materials, change orders, and costs against budget, and taking action early to avoid delays or overruns.
- Visit job sites regularly to verify workmanship, safety, cleanliness, and material needs, providing clear direction so work matches plans and SG Construction's craftsmanship standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during construction, providing proactive updates, managing change orders, and guiding them calmly through scope changes and unforeseen conditions.
What Success Looks Like
- Within your first 3-6 months, you are independently managing multiple outdoor-living projects, with schedules and budgets consistently on track and issues flagged early with clear options.
- Homeowners regularly comment on how informed and taken care of they feel, and projects close out with clean punch lists, organized documentation, and strong online reviews or referrals.
- Field crews and subcontractors know what's expected each day, inspections and USA 811 calls are coordinated without last-minute scrambles, and job sites reflect our standards for safety and cleanliness.
- By the end of your first year, you are a key contributor to improving our processes in JobTread (or similar software), standardizing how we plan, track, and report on projects across the company.
What We're Looking For
- 3-5+ years of experience managing residential construction projects such as custom homes, remodels, or outdoor-living builds, with strong ability to read and interpret plans, engineering, and contract documents.
- Working knowledge of framing, decking systems (Azek, TimberTech, Ipe), pavilions/pergolas, and general outdoor-living construction, plus familiarity with Cal/OSHA jobsite safety requirements.
- Proven ability to track costs, maintain budget performance, and use construction or project management software (JobTread or similar) to keep jobs organized and transparent.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects across the East Bay, coordinate permitting and inspections, and build trust with both clients and crews; valid driver's license and insurable driving record required, bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated salary range: $100,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience and skills
- Full-time, exempt/salaried role reporting directly to the Owner; on-site position serving the East Bay (Walnut Creek/Concord/Danville, 680 corridor)
- Paid time off, health insurance support, and mileage/expense reimbursement for approved business expenses
- Company vehicle for work-related travel (or vehicle allowance structure) and a strong pipeline of high-quality projects in a collaborative, small-team environment, with potential for performance-based incentives and raises as the company grows
