A Note on the Environment: This is a high-energy, physically demanding outdoor role. As we head into the Georgia summer, you will be working in the heat and sun. If you love staying active and prefer the fresh air to a desk, you'll fit right in.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Mission: Safely assist drivers in the collection of residential solid waste and recyclables, ensuring our Fairburn neighborhoods stay clean.
  • Loading & Sorting: Efficiently load materials into the vehicle and sort recyclables into appropriate compartments.
  • Safety Navigation: Act as the "second set of eyes" for the driver, assisting with backing up and maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate hydraulic compacting equipment and ensure the truck is stocked with necessary tools (brooms, shovels, etc.) before leaving the yard.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a professional demeanor and identify/tag prohibited waste items to keep our community and equipment safe.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with supervisors to improve routing and ensure every route meets GFL's high-quality standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: 1-3 months of related physical labor is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person!
  • License: A valid driver's license is a plus.
  • Reliability: Must be able to meet safety-sensitive function criteria according to Company standards.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with your driver.
  • A "safety-first" mindset at all times.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This role is for those who enjoy a physical challenge. You will be moving for the duration of your shift.
  • Outdoor Performance: Work in the outdoor elements 100% of the time, including high humidity and summer heat.
  • Physical Strength: Regularly lift/move up to 65 lbs and push/move up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Agility: Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing in and out of the vehicle.
  • Environment: Constant exposure to traffic, moving mechanical parts, and typical outdoor noise levels.
