Residential HVAC Diagnostics Technician

A day in this role

Your morning starts with a well-stocked, company-provided vehicle and a schedule of residential and light commercial visits. You’ll diagnose performance issues, perform routine and emergency repairs, tune systems for safety and efficiency, and walk homeowners through findings with clear recommendations. Throughout the day, you’ll keep detailed service records, uphold safety protocols, and leave every space cleaner than you found it.

Core responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across residential and commercial sites.
• Complete inspections, adjustments, upgrades, and accurate documentation of all work performed.
• Clean, adjust, and repair air handling units, ductwork, vents, and condensation drainage components.
• Diagnose and perform service work on residential HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Provide expert solutions and professional recommendations tailored to each customer’s needs.
• Maintain a safe, organized work area and adhere to all industry and company standards.
• Additional duties as assigned.

What you bring

• 3–5+ years of HVAC experience, preferably in residential service.
• EPA Certification (required).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Advanced troubleshooting and critical thinking skills for complex issues.
• Positive attitude and a commitment to meticulous workmanship.
• Customer-first mindset with polished communication skills at all organizational levels.
• Collaborative, adaptable, and innovative team player who thrives in dynamic environments.

Physical demands

• Lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Climb ladders; access attics; enter crawlspaces; navigate tight areas; push, carry, pull; use hand tools; perform fine detail work.
• Ability to drive.
• Work indoors and outdoors, including attics and crawlspaces.
• Stand, walk, sit; talk and hear in person and by phone.
• Use hands to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch.
• Regular exposure to extreme heat or cold and adverse weather such as wind, rain, ice, or snow.
