Mission Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, part of Southern Home Services, is seeking a seasoned leader to guide residential installation projects from first handshake to final walkthrough. As our Residential HVAC Installation Crew Chief, you’ll set the pace for quality, safety, and customer delight while mentoring the next generation of installers.
A Day in the Life
You load a well-organized truck, review the plan with your team, and brief the homeowner on what to expect. On site, you direct the crew, handle complex layout and system configuration, and ensure every joint, wire, and fastener meets spec. You keep the workspace tidy, document progress, and close the day with a confident startup and happy customer.
What You’ll Lead and Do
- Oversee full-scope residential HVAC installs, upgrades, and change-outs with precision and efficiency.
- Cut, thread, and connect copper and PVC; complete both high- and low-voltage wiring to code.
- Coach and develop Install Helpers on the job and in the shop, reinforcing best practices and safety.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for homeowners—set expectations, answer questions, resolve issues.
- Keep tools, parts, and vehicle stocked, organized, and clean; help manage inventory.
- Work safely at heights and in tight areas like attics and crawlspaces, in all seasons and weather.
- Adhere to appliance codes, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and company service standards.
- Tackle complex installs that require advanced troubleshooting and critical thinking.
- Contribute to team training and development; perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- 1+ year of experience as a Lead HVAC Installer in residential settings.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- EPA certification.
- Strong diagnostic ability and problem-solving mindset for complex system challenges.
- Professional, customer-first communication and demeanor.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and motivated to deliver top-tier workmanship.
Physical Demands
- Lifting 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Climbing ladders; accessing attics; entering crawlspaces; navigating tight areas; driving; pushing, carrying, and pulling; using hand tools; performing fine detail work.
- Ability to drive.
- Work indoors and outdoors, including attics and crawlspaces.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit; talk or hear in person and by telephone.
- Use hands to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch.
- Regular exposure to extreme heat or cold and adverse weather (wind, rain, ice, snow).
