A day in the life

You’ll start by reviewing plans and manufacturer specs for the day’s installs on our Residential New Construction or Retail teams. You load the truck, travel to job sites, and under general supervision, set equipment, run and fabricate ductwork, and tie in accessories. When needed, you test system performance and may conduct start-ups. You document your work clearly and completely, clean the area, and collaborate with teammates to ensure every homeowner gets a safe, code-compliant, and reliable system.

Core responsibilities

• Install heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment and related products to company standards and manufacturer requirements.
• Test system operation when needed to verify proper function and performance.
• Diagnose issues and complete or coordinate follow-up repairs so all components meet compliance requirements.
• Accurately complete all required documentation in a neat and timely manner.
• Perform start-up on air conditioning systems when required.
• Fabricate and install sheet metal ducts and fittings as needed.
• Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and PPE guidelines.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum requirements

• High school diploma or GED (relevant experience may substitute for education).
• Previous HVAC installation experience.
• Ability to read and interpret installation drawings and documentation.
• Keep work areas clean and orderly upon completion.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Basic computer skills; able to use a computer, laptop, or tablet.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work overtime with short notice; occasional weekends.

Preferred qualifications

• HVAC trade school certificate.
• 2+ years of residential HVAC experience.
• EPA Certification.

Working conditions

• Primarily at occupied homes and active construction sites; minimal office time.
• Drive to and between work locations.
• Exposure to construction environments: equipment, heights, confined spaces, noise, dust, odors, and hazardous materials.
• Indoor and outdoor work in all weather (heat, rain, cold, wind) with appropriate PPE.

Physical requirements

• Lift and move up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Regular climbing, bending, crawling, kneeling, and crouching.
• Work at heights; climb ladders and stairs; occasional platforms/scaffolding with fall protection.
• Use required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, masks/respirators, high-visibility vests, gloves, and safety-toe boots.
• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Hear and distinguish speech/sounds to safely operate phones and equipment.
• Near, far, and peripheral vision with normal depth perception (with or without correction).
• Communicate clearly to exchange information verbally.
• Enter data on handheld devices, laptops, or computers (keyboard or 10-key).
• Reach overhead; grasp, hold, lift, turn, push, and pull tools and materials with hands and arms.
