Job Summary The Residential HVAC Lead Installer at Action AC is responsible for the proper, efficient, and timely installation of residential and light commercial HVAC systems and related components, working alongside a helper. This position operates under general supervision and includes a degree of independent judgment and on-site problem-solving. The Lead Installer reports directly to the Install Manager and is classified as a safety-sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities
Install HVAC systems and related equipment according to Action AC standards and manufacturer specifications
Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
Wire both line-voltage and low-voltage components for heating and cooling systems
Install and braze/solder copper refrigerant lines for air conditioning systems
Install sheet metal ductwork and flexible duct systems in residential and light commercial applications
Properly install and connect gas lines to heating equipment in compliance with codes and safety standards
Pre-measure job sites to determine required materials and installation needs
Receive, verify, and load all equipment and materials required for each job
Assist other lead installers as directed by management
Train and support installation helpers to ensure quality workmanship and efficiency
Build and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, management, and customers
Accurately complete all required job documentation in a timely manner
Take and interpret system readings and understand their importance to system performance
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned company vehicle
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
EPA Certification required
3–5 years of HVAC installation experience required

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in extreme temperatures for extended periods
Must be able to work in varied environments, including confined spaces and rooftops
Ability to safely lift and carry over 100 pounds
Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed
Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling required
Must be able to perform duties in a safety-sensitive role
